Rebekah Trevino
Rebekah was born, along with a twin brother, in 1976 in Omak, WA. Both were a happy addition to their parents, older brother and older sister. In 1978 the family was moved to Twisp, WA to enjoy a country living. This is where Rebekah adopted a strong work ethic, a patience in working with others and passion for helping those in need.
When Rebekah was young her parents instilled a strong sense of family community; eating breakfast and dinner together every night, participating in church leadership and sponsoring children in need. In fact, one half of Rebekah and her sibling’s weekly allowances were allotted to help meet these children’s basic needs.
Rebekah’s desire to help others continued through elementary and junior high school while she volunteered to tutor fellow classmates and supported the efforts of her parents as they brought disadvantaged children/teenagers into their home. At this time she began to have aspirations to adopt children when she began a family of her own. As school continued, Rebekah felt led to pursue a degree in psychology and pre-law, attend law school and work to defend abused and victimized children. After graduating Valedictorian from Liberty Bell High School in 1994 it seemed best to first obtain knowledge and experience in working with children of all ages to gain behavioral experience and therefore she decided to first pursue a Teaching career.
In 1998, after completion of an internship at Children Welfare Services, a division of the Department of Social and Human Services, and her student teaching, Rebekah graduated from Seattle Pacific University with a degree in Psychology and a Teachers Certificate. She then moved to Poulsbo, WA to teach Junior High School Health and Mathematics.
In late 2000 Rebekah met an amazing young man, Eric, who lived in San Diego. Unable to be apart, she joined him San Diego and they were married in 2002. During their 4 years together in San Diego, Rebekah taught Mathematics to struggling students in a predominately Hispanic high school while Eric worked full time for the Federal Government and completed law school (Rebekah’s original passion). With her husband’s Hispanic background and learning about a new culture from her students, Rebekah gained a love for Mexico and those in need.
In 2006 Rebekah and Eric moved to Seattle, WA where Eric continued his work with the Federal Government and Rebekah works in Microsoft’s College Recruiting division. Their desires to help others currently have them sponsoring children in Tanzania, Indonesia and Mexico as well as supporting efforts with Children’s hospital, Women for Women International, and in Uganda. They are both actively involved in volunteer efforts with an Orphanage in Mexico and hope to someday adopt from there.
Being asked to be a member of the Board of Directors for Compassion Care is one of Rebekah’s most honored and cherished invitations. This non-profit organization will allow her to extend her true passions to MANY around the world. It is her life goal to better the lives of others one at a time, in as many countries as she can, for as long as she can.
