Many, many, many children, as well as families, have one shirt, one pair of trousers or skirt, no shoes and make do with that on a daily basis. These are the fortunate ones - there are many more that have no clothing whatsoever, and no means of obtaining any.
Compassion Care will provide 'used' clothing purchased at low prices to give to those without any clothing. Many places sell used shirts, blouses, skirts and trousers for $.50 cents to $1.00. They may be worn, torn, but they are clothes that cover the body from the harsh elements. It has been found that many organizations (USA, Europe) that send clothing to various countries to give to the people, that the receiving organization then charges the poor people. Shipping alone is very expensive and some of these countries charge a fee to the receiver. Even Postal Services will open packages and determine a price, then charge five percent or more of that price before the person(s) can get it.
This is not acceptable at Compassion Care and we have found purchasing used clothing locally, at the low prices, is a more acceptable, and less costly, method of providing for these needs and necessities.
Members of the Board of Compassion Care have shopped the Good Will Stores in the USA, and find we can get an entire wardrobe of good, clean clothing for less then $50 - at $2.00 up to $5.00 per item instead of $25.00 to $49.00, one can really have sufficient clothing. Compare this to the lower prices in these poor countries, and you can readily see how far your contribution will go in clothing one person, or an entire family.
Thank you for helping cloth our fellow human beings - they will forever be grateful to you.
